1. These terms
These terms apply when you use this website or engage Merit Sparrow (“Merit Sparrow”, “we”, “us”) for any of our services. By messaging us or using the site, you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the service.

2. What we do — and what we do not
Merit Sparrow is an education advisory. We help students in India plan a UK degree: we work out a detailed study cost, shortlist universities, search for scholarships you can still apply to, obtain and compare education loan options through partners, and assist with document preparation and visa filing.
Read this part carefully, because it is the most misunderstood thing about us:
- We are not a bank, an NBFC, a lender or a lending intermediary of our own account. We do not provide, underwrite, sanction, disburse or guarantee education loans, and we do not set interest rates or decide eligibility.
- We do not award, grant or fund scholarships. Scholarships are awarded by universities, governments and private awarding bodies under their own criteria and deadlines. We find them and help you apply.
- We are not a university, and we do not decide admissions.
- We are not a visa authority. Visa decisions are made solely by UK Visas and Immigration.
- We do not give investment, tax or legal advice.
3. Third-party partners
To get you loan options we work with third-party partners, including WeMakeScholars and, through them, a panel of banks and NBFCs. Where you ask us to, we share the details you have given us with those partners so that they can assess your case and put options in front of you. Our privacy policy sets out exactly what is shared.
Anything you then agree with a partner — a loan, an insurance product, a forex service — is a contract between you and that partner, on their terms, not ours. Read their documents before you sign. Merit Sparrow is not a party to it and is not responsible for their decisions, rates, timelines or conduct.
We may receive a referral fee or commission from a partner when a product is taken up through us. This does not increase what you pay: our loan guidance is free to you, and our partners are paid by the lender. We disclose it here so you know the basis on which options are put in front of you.
4. Which services are free, and which are paid
- Your detailed UK cost report is free, whether or not you go on to use us for anything else.
- Loan comparison and guidance is free to you.
- University shortlisting and scholarship search are for students who have signed up with us and are not provided as part of the free cost report.
- Visa filing is charged at ₹7,999, and is invoiced only after your visa is approved. If your visa is refused, we do not invoice you for it.
Any fee is exclusive of taxes unless we say otherwise, and of amounts payable to third parties — university deposits, visa fees, the immigration health surcharge (IHS), courier or translation charges — which you pay directly to them.
5. Estimates are estimates
The cost figures we produce are careful estimates, not quotations. Tuition and deposit figures come from the university’s published numbers on the day we prepare them; visa and health surcharge amounts come from UK government schedules; living costs and foreign exchange are ranges and are labelled as ranges. All of these change, and exchange rates move daily. Nothing we send you is a guarantee of what you will actually pay. Verify against the university and the relevant authority before you commit money.
Any sample report, sample conversation or illustrative figure shown on this website is exactly that — an illustration, using a made-up student — and is not an offer or a prediction of your result.
6. No guarantee of outcome
We do not promise, and cannot promise, that you will receive an admission offer, a loan sanction, a scholarship, a particular interest rate, or a visa. Those decisions belong to universities, lenders, awarding bodies and UK Visas and Immigration, and they apply their own criteria. What we commit to is doing the work described in section 2 with reasonable care and skill.
Timelines we mention — including any indication of how quickly a report or a sanction arrives — are estimates based on ordinary cases, not commitments.
7. What we need from you
- Give us accurate, complete and current information. Much of what we produce depends on it, and a wrong mark sheet or budget produces a wrong answer.
- Do not ask us to submit anything false or misleading to a university, a lender or a visa authority. We will not do it, and we will stop work if asked.
- Keep your own copies of documents you send us.
- You are responsible for meeting the deadlines we flag to you.
You must be 18 or over to engage us. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must engage us on your behalf.
8. Communicating over WhatsApp
Most of our work with you happens on WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta under its own terms and privacy policy. By messaging us you accept that your messages are handled by that service. Do not send us card numbers, bank passwords, OTPs or UPI PINs — we will never ask for them, and anyone who does is not us.
9. Our content
The text, design, reports and templates we produce belong to Merit Sparrow. You may use anything we prepare for you for your own application. You may not resell it, republish it, or use it to run a competing service.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Indian law, including for fraud.
Subject to that: we are not liable for the acts, omissions, decisions or delays of universities, lenders, awarding bodies, visa authorities or any other third party; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost opportunity or a missed intake; and our total liability for any claim connected with our services is limited to the fees you have actually paid us.
11. Ending the engagement
You can stop working with us at any time by telling us. We can stop if you ask us to do something improper, if information you gave us turns out to be false, or if the engagement becomes unworkable. Fees already earned for work completed remain payable; the ₹7,999 visa filing fee is not payable unless a visa has been approved.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and the version in force is the one published when you engage us.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Secunderabad, Telangana have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
